Natural linoleum is a floor covering that has been widely used as a covering since 1855. This material is made up of linseed oil, pine resin, cork flour, wood dust and minerals such as calcium carbonate, and the mixture is applied to a jute or fabric backing. Since its inception, this material is one of the most suitable materials in rooms where high abrasion resistance is required, but the tiles could crack. Due to its natural composition, natural linoleum is widely used in primary schools, as it is antibacterial, antistatic, does not promote allergic reactions and does not emit formaldehyde. Today, manufacturers treat already durable natural linoleum with a thin layer of polymer-based (polyurethane) layer to improve the care of the coating and increase its resistance to dirt.
